Teen driver suspected in Pasco power outage
PASCO, Wash-- A teen driver was ticketed for leaving the scene of a crash in Pasco Saturday.
Pasco Police responded to a report of traffic lights out of order in the area of Rd. 68 and Argent Saturday just before 1:00 p.m.
Police say the vehicle hit a guy-wire securing a power pole. The wire came loose and snapped up, hitting the overhead wires shorting them out and cutting power to about 1,000 Franklin PUD customers.
A short time later, officers learned that a power pole had been hit in the area of Rd. 64 and Richardson.
A witness took a photo of the suspect vehicle and forwarded it to officers, who were able to located the vehicle at a home about a block away from the incident.
After speaking with the juvenile driver, they determined that the teen had been driving north on Road 64 and swerved to avoid a cat in the road.
The teen was ticketed for Hit and Run and released. It took Franklin PUD about an hour to restore the electricity.
