Shooting leads to arrest of a Pasco man

Pasco Police investigating an assault at a Pasco motel early Friday morning heard a gunshot fired nearby and started to look for the source.

A woman coming out of a nearby home on W. Bonneville told them that a man had threatened to kill himself. Officers contacted the man and took him into custody. Police say 27-year old Ivan Arnaldo Castellanos was upset because his girlfriend was trying to leave him, so he threatened to shoot himself, and also pointed a firearm at the girlfriend before firing a shot. No one was hurt.

Investigators recovered a handgun clip, but were unable to find the handgun used to fire the one round officers heard.

Castellanos is charged with Domestic Assault.
