Pasco police captain picked to be on state police body camera task force

A Pasco officer is helping in the process of forming Washington rules when it comes to police body cameras.

Pasco Chief Bob Metzger says legislation passed last session created a task force to look at changing what is allowed to be released when it comes to public records requests.

"The fact that Captain Harpster is on that will help us, because it will give us direct knowledge of what they are looking at from the state as far as use of body-worn cameras, it will give us a chance to input some of our experiences that we are having with body worn cameras," says Chief Metzger.

Captain Jeff Harpster picked for a spot on the task force will be representing the Washington State Fraternal Order of Police.

Pasco police department was given the green light to start a pilot program for their body cameras at the beginning of June.
