(Yamhill, OR) -- New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof is officially in the race to be Oregon's next governor. The former reporter announced he has entered what's expected to be a crowded Democratic primary next year. Kristoff recently moved back to his hometown of Yamhill, southwest of Portland. In his announcement, he said he hopes to help Oregon overcome issues it continues to experience with homelessness, education and jobs. Governor Kate Brown is finishing up her second term in office and can't run for a third term.
