BENTON CITY, Wash.-- Troopers with the Washington State Patrol are investigating a deadly rollover crash off of I-82 Friday.

According to Trooper Chris Thorson, a woman called 911 at around 4:00 a.m. Friday to report that she had been talking with her boyfriend, when she heard the sound of rumble strips, and what sounded like a crash before the call was disconnected.

The woman wasn't sure where the car had been when it went off the road.

Richland Police initially responded and determined that the vehicle might be between Richland and Prosser, either on I-82 or Old Inland Empire Highway.

Several Benton County Sheriff's Deputies searched areas along I-82 and OIE Highway, into Benton City and surrounding areas, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m., someone reported seeing a vehicle matching the description of the missing vehicle about 150 feet off the roadway near the Yakitat Road exit.

Medical responders arrived and pronounced the driver, Joshua McClary, 26, Richland, dead at the scene. Investigators say he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
