Wildfire Smoke Could Elevate Mid Columbia Air Quality to Unhealthy
With more smoke spilling into our region from area wildfires, the Benton Clean Air Authority says to prepare for worsening air.
Currently Benton Air is Considered Moderate, But...
Some surrounding areas are considered unhealthy, according to information released by Tyler Thompson, BCAA Executive Director , and our air could soon join it.

The smoke and fires could increase particulates, which can also cause breathing issues for those with impaired conditions. The pollutants can caused irritated eyes, and breathing issues. According to the BCAA:
"individuals should consider air quality conditions before conducting activities outdoors, especially those who are sensitive to air pollution. Sensitive groups include older adults, children, people who work or exercise outdoors, and those with heart conditions and respiratory ailments such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. Everyone else should reduce outdoor activities."
Should Everyone Limit Outdoor Activities?
Those with breathing issues should stay indoors as much as possible, and the BCAA says until skies improve, everyone should limit outdoor activities.
Thompson said everyone should prepare for a lot more smoke in the skies by Wednesday.
