The Benton Franklin Humane Society is always busy on the Fourth of July weekend. The agency's Elaine Allison says  dogs tend to scamper with the noise of fire works.

"Cats tend to hide, dogs run. They just go, and then they get past where they normally walk every day, and they don't know where they are, and they can't get home," says Allison. "TheFourth really is the most crowded day at the animal shelter."

She says if you lose your best friend this weekend, contact the humane society, which will open back up after July 5th.
