A Grant County community member is working to raise money for K-9 bulletproof vests and training gear.

Over $1,071 has been raised so far by the Moses Lake resident who said on the GoFundMe page that the dogs need these vest for protection and there is no funding in the budget to make the purchases.

The Grant County Sheriff's department recently added the two K-9 teams thanks to community funds. The department shared the page on their Facebook page and Twitter.

It is the first time in 20 years since the Grant County Sheriff's Office has K-9 teams on patrol, both Grizzly and Chicka were on duty in April.
