Columbia Basin College hosted their 10th annual Arbor Day event Wednesday.  Students, faculty, and staff planted 12 trees to maintain the school's status as a Tree Campus USA, an award from the National Arbor Day Foundation.  The campus community planted a Noble Fir tree in honor of the accomplishments and work of Karen Grant, a CBC professor emerita who helped develop CBC's chemistry program.  Grant passed away in November 2018.

CBC was the first community college in Washington to receive the award from the National Arbor Day Foundation in 2009.  To achieve the award, CBC must have an annual service-learning project on campus, a campus tree care plan, dedicate yearly funding to their campus tree program, & also have a tree advisory committee.
