Yakima man shot in stomach and dies, police search for suspect

A 23-year old man has died after being shot in the stomach last night in Yakima.

Police in Yakima say on Sunday night around 10:38 p.m., a man and a 17-year old friend were walking along East D Street mid-block between 8^th and 9^th Street when shots were fired. Officers say the 23-year-old was shot in the stomach and lying on the ground when they arrived. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

No one else was hurt, and no witnesses have been able to provide information about a possible suspect.  The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The victims do not appear to have gang ties.
