West Richland tapped as one of Washington’s safest cities
A company that reviews security and other alarms has compiled its annual list of the safest cities in Washington, and a city in the Tri-Cities area has ranked high on that list.
Oak Harbor in the Puget Sound earned top honors as the safest city in the Evergreen State, but West Richland came in second place out of the fifty safest cities in the state.
Alarms.org looked at FBI Crime Statistic data to compile its list based on property and violent crimes... and found that outside of large cities in Washington, the state has a higher-than-average rate of property crime, but a lower than average rate of violent crime.
"It goes back to the community involvement," said Cpt. Thomas Grego with the West Richland Police Department. "Officers are very proactive, and the connection that we have with the community is a huge part of the success."
Other cities in our area made the list, including Sunnyside which ranked 17th safest city in the state, Pasco at 26th, Richland at 31st, and Kennewick at 38th.
