(Seattle, WA) -- The Seattle School Board is considering asking state health officials to require all Washington state students to get vaccinated against COVID-19. The board discussed a resolution Wednesday that would urge the state Board of Health to add the coronavirus vaccine to the list of immunizations students must obtain before attending school in-person. However, the vaccine would not be added to the list until it's approved by the FDA for children ages five and up.

According to resolution sponsor and Board President Chandra Hampson, the move would allow schools to place their focus on education, where it belongs, instead of on disease mitigation. The board voted to postpone a vote on the resolution until November 3rd.
