RICHLAND, Wash. - US Congressman Dan Newhouse was in Richland Tuesday afternoon to tour the lab at PNNL. Newhouse was there to learn more about their efforts to fight the spread of coronavirus.

State Senator Sharon Brown as well as State Representatives Brad Klippert and Matt Boehnke, joined the Congressman on the tour. Newhouse shared how pleased he was with Washington state's response to the outbreak.

"It was exciting for us to see some of the capabilities and some of the things they're looking at as far as screening and testing and those kinds of things, that could be very beneficial to people all over the country."

The Congressman stated that the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is a tremendous asset and says the lab is looking to provide any help they can in order to help slow the spread of the virus. Newhouse also said that Governor Inslee is making the right decisions in response to the virus. The coronavirus has been positively identified in over 1,000 Washington state residents to date.
