(Spanaway, WA) -- A Pierce County SWAT detective has died after being shot by a suspect in Spanaway on Tuesday. Dominique Calata and Sergeant Rich Scaniffe were serving a warrant for felony assault with a weapon when they were shot by the suspect. The deputies returned fire killing Jeremy Dayton. Calata was a member of SWAT for four years. He was married with a young son. Scaniffe is a 21-year veteran of the Sheriff's Department and remains hospitalized.
