Those filing for unemployment in Oregon will soon have to wait a bit longer for checks.

The waiting week will return to Oregon unemployment insurance starting September 5th. That means people going onto unemployment benefits will have to wait one week before starting to receive benefits. The waiting week was temporarily eliminated by the Governor during the pandemic to get benefits out faster. The waiting week is required by Oregon law, and the legislature would have to eliminate it to make it permanent. Around 11-thousand people will be affected by the change.
