Kennewick man arrested after assault, violating protection order

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A Kennewick man is in custody after he allegedly violated a protection order and assaulted a woman.

According to Kennewick Police, officers were dispatched to a home in the 3200 block of W. 9th Ct. at about 1:22 a.m. Saturday, where the victim said Salvador Pantaleon-Martinez had entered the home in violation of a protection order. 

When the victim tried calling for help, Pantaleon-Martinez allegedly took the victim's cell phone and punched her in the head several times before fleeing on foot.

Officers searched the area and notified local agencies to look for the male as well, but were unable to find him.

Officers were dispatched to the same residence at 7:44 a.m. when the victim reported that Pantaleon-Martinez had returned. When the victim tried to call 911, he also took that phone and struck the victim in the head multiple times before leaving the area on foot. Officers located the man inside a neighbor's home.

"At 1:44 in the morning, we can't go knocking on doors and waking people up asking if they've seen someone. The victim didn't know which direction the suspect had fled in, so we put out an Attempt to Locate notification and looked in backyards and searched the area and weren't able to find him," said Officer Zach Moore. "The second assault happened in the morning and were actually able to canvas the neighborhood and talk to the neighbors. That's when we found one of the neighbors who said the suspect came over to his house and asked if he could come inside for a second because there was some sort of issue."

The neighbor allowed officers into the house where they were able to take Pantaleon-Martinez into custody.

Investigators say they recovered suspected narcotics when they took him into custody.

Pantaleon-Martinez was booked into the Benton County Jail for two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree, two counts of Felony Order Violation DV, a Felony DOC warrant, and misdemeanor warrant for Theft. Drug charges could also be filed once the substance that was found is tested by a lab.
