First case of West Nile detected in Oregon

The West Nile Virus has been detected in two mosquito samples in Umatilla County, one from just east of Umatilla, the other from the southern edge of Stanfield.

They are the first in Oregon so far this year. Officials say people living in the are can expect an increase in mosquito control operations.

West Nile has been detected in three counties in Washington this year including Benton, Yakima and Grant.
