Whatcom County Seeking to Fill Late Doug Ericksen’s Seat Before Next Legislative Session

(Whatcom County, WA) -- Officials in Whatcom County are working to fill the late Washington State Senator Doug Ericksen's seat before the start of the 2022 legislative session. Whatcom County Republicans are expected to meet this week to come up with a list of three potential candidates. The Whatcom County Council will choose his replacement from that list.

"The 42nd District deserves to have a senator representing them (when the legislative session starts on January 10th)." Said County Councilmember Kathy Kershner.

Ericksen died last week at the age of 52 after being diagnosed with COVID-19 in El Salvador more than a month ago.
