WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- Walla Walla Police officials are celebrating the actions of its Animal Control Officer, who is credited with saving a dog while on vacation.

Officials say Officer Sallie McCullough was on vacation in Gig Harbor, Wash. and took part in a boat outing in the Puget Sound when she spotted a dog that had fallen off of a boat and appeared to be in distress.

Officer McCullough helped to get the dog, named Weasel, to safety, and then provide care to the animal until he could reunited with his owner.

"McCullough's expertise in working with frightened dogs assisted her in getting Weasel to safety and taking care of him," officials stated in a press release. "Because of her, a couple in Gig Harbor get to have many more days with their pet."
