(Olympia, WA) -- Starting January 1st, people working in Washington will have to start paying long-term care premiums, unless they were able to opt out of the program with an approved plan. Governor Jay Inslee released a statement saying that because of problems with the bill passed by the Legislature he has ordered the Employment Security Department to not collect premiums from employers, but employers will still take the premiums out of paychecks. The Legislature will meet in January and leaders plan to propose bills to fix the problems with the long-term care program.
