Update: Authorities Release Name of Man Shot By Police in Pasco Sunday

(Pasco, WA) -- This happened on Sunday when police responded to a call of a fight between two men. When the they arrived at 6th and Lewis Street, the found a man lying in the street, dead of a homicide with another man armed and about to confront police. Special Investigations Unit says the man who committed the homicide and was shot by police has been identified as Gabriel Artz of Pasco. The officers responding to the scene at 6th and Lewis Sunday morning tried to calm things down, but ultimately were forced to use deadly force on Artz after he appeared to start an attack on the officers. Artz was rushed to Kadlec where he was later pronounced dead. Police also say they know who the homicide victim is, but are waiting until family has been notified.
