TRI-CITIES, Wash. -With spring just around the corner, Washington's Department of Transportation would like to remind drivers to take off their studded snow tires.

State law requires them to be removed by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 31. If you don't take them off, you will be fined $136 starting at midnight on April 1. Both Washington and Oregon have the same deadline.

Studded snow tires damage pavement, so taking them off as soon as winter ends helps preserve the roads.
