Is St. Ignatius Hospital in Colfax, Washington Haunted?
What is that chill going down your spine?
Enthusiasts of the paranormal that live in Tri-Cities or Spokane don't have to travel far to find a fright.
St. Ignatius Hospital first opened in Colfax in 1892 and true believers have insisted that it's haunted.
Visitors of the now-abandoned hospital have insisted the property is haunted. St. Ignatius Hospital has been featured in two paranormal reality television shows, including Paranormal Lockdown in 2017. But things weren't always so spooky.
St. Ignatius Hospital closed in 1964.
The opening of Whitman Community Hospital saw St. Ignatius Hospital retire shortly after to become an assisted living facility. In 2000, this too closed down, with the building being abandoned in 2003 after burst pipes made way for flooding.
Between 2015 and 2016, tours of St. Ignatius Hospital generated around $30,000.
People have long insisted that someone or multiple someones of a supernatural variety has occupied St. Ignatius in the 100+ years since it originally opened. It has become a popular tourism destination for not just those interested in the paranormal, but casual viewers as well. Right now, you can't visit St. Ignatius but the good news is you will be able to tour the site again soon. Renovations are underway on the property and tours will resume in the near future. If you're itching to see something strange in your neighborhood, you are able to visit as long as you don't go inside the hospital.
If you don't have the stomach for an in-person tour of St. Ignatius, plenty of paranormal YouTubers have visited and videoed their experiences. This video from Ghostly Activities gives an excellent insider's view of the fabled facility.
There are so many awesome (and sometimes scary) places to visit all over eastern Washington. If you have visited St. Ignatius Hospital, we'd love to hear about your experience.
We are ready to believe you.
