Seattle Police Department employees who fail to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination by today's deadline won't be fired right away. KING-5 reports the Seattle Police Officers Guild says employees who miss the deadline will be instructed to continue reporting to work until further notice. The employees will then be given an opportunity to present their reasons for not getting vaccinated during a Loudermill hearing before any termination action is taken.

The city of Seattle issued a vaccine mandate for all city employees to be in alignment with the state mandate.

The King County Sheriff's Department will follow a similar procedure within its offices.
