In Milton-Freewater, residents in a large area East of Highway 11, all homes and businesses south of NE 8th and East of South Main to SE 20th to the Walla Walla River are required to evacuate. Emergency workers are going through the area calling for evacuations. Anyone who can walk to a bus shelter is encouraged to do so and wait for buses that will shuttle residents to shelters.

Shelters are set up at Mac High Gym, Ferndale School, and the Community Building.

Anyone who is unable to get to a shelter on your own is encouraged to get to a bus shelter on South Main. The City's transportation system started transporting people at 9:15 a.m. Friday.  Anyone who is elderly or disabled and can't walk to a shelter can call City Hall at 541-938-5531 and provide them with an address so they can arrange for transportation.

For those not currently under an evacuation order, city officials say you need to have an evacuation plan in place and continue to monitor Newsradio 610 KONA for emergency alerts and other updates.
