Richland Police accepting applications for Citizen’s Academy

If you've ever wanted to learn more about how your local police department operates-- here's your chance.

The Richland Police Department is gearing up for its annual Citizen's Academy.

The 12-weekly sessions run from January 7th to March 31st, and will give you  a look behind the scenes at how the agency operates.

"It gives our citizens a better understanding of police operations in our community and it allows police officers and other members of our criminal justice system to network and develop a relationship with some of our citizens," said Hollie Logan, spokesperson for the City of Richland.

The department accepts about 45 participants for the annual class. You don't have to be a Richland resident, but residents of Richland receive priority.

Participants must be 21 or older, and willing to submit to a limited background check.
