Richland Man Wanted For Legends Casino Parking Lot Shooting, Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Idaho

(Pocatello, ID) -- Authorities in Bannock County, Idaho say a man killed in an officer-involved shooting there was wanted for attempted murder in connection with the shooting of a woman in a parking lot at Legends Casino in Toppenish. Authorities say 41-year-old Buddy McKenzie of Richland was killed after making a lethal threat against deputies following a chase near Interstate 15 Wednesday. This happened around 3:30pm when law enforcement in Caribou County, Idaho, tipped off Bannock deputies that the driver of a small white pickup had fired multiple gunshots at law enforcement.

Law enforcement from several local agencies followed the suspect vehicle westbound on Highway 30 through Lava Hot Springs attempting to stop the pursuit with spikes, however the suspect continued driving. The suspect vehicle came to a stop at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Highway 30 near the McCammon exit off Interstate 15.

After a lethal threat from the suspect, law enforcement was forced to fire their weapons. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers involved were not injured.
