Prosser FFA wins state championship

Prosser FFA sent two teams to the Washington State FFA Apple Judging Career Development Event earlier this month in Wenatchee. Apple judging and grading events are used to teach consumers how to develop a better understanding and appreciation for the various grades and varieties of apples and pears. The event includes apple grading, identification of varieties and blemishes, tray grading, pesticide safety, entomology and fruit maturity.

Prosser Team 1 won the state championship, along with members Eva Aarstad (2nd place Individual); Annie Green (3rd place individual); Harrison Moore (5th place individual); Erika Rodriguez (6th place individual); and Jennifer Cantu. Prosser Team 2 placed 6th with its group of members, including Laynee Olmstead (9th place individual); Emanuel Munoz, Kassidy Bush, Victor Martinez, and Zayne Smithyman.
