One in custody after chase involving stolen vehicle in Benton County

A high speed chase ended in a culvert near Benton City early Thursday morning.

The chase started on I-82 near the Benton City exit, with a Benton County Sheriff's Deputy spotted a white Volvo that matched the description of a vehicle that had been stolen out of Prosser.

The driver took the Benton City exit, but refused to pull over, leading the deputy down Jacobs Road to a dead end, then off road past a winery, and onto a dirt road along an irrigation canal.

The vehicle then went off the trail into a brushy area, where it ended up crashing into a ravine near Yakitat Road.

Deputies say the driver, Bobby Lee Ozuna, 32, was taken into custody without further incident.

He faces charges for Auto Theft, Eluding, and Driving with a Suspended License.
