One arrested in Connell Chase

CONNELL, Wash.-- An Othello man is in custody after leading police on a chase through two counties just before midnight Sunday.

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, Connell Police first reported that they were pursuing a vehicle that refused to stop for officers, and the vehicle had entered from Franklin County into Adams County.

The chase continued nine miles into Adams County where deputies tried to stop the vehicle with spike strips, but the suspect maneuvered around them before ditching the sedan in the 2100 block of W. Cunningham Road and fleeing on foot.

Emmanuel Ayala, 36, Othello, was arrested a short time later.

Ayala was booked into the Franklin County Jail for reckless driving and eluding. He could also face eluding charges in Adams County.
