Large wildfire at the Umatilla Army Depot blowing toward I-82

A large wildfire is spreading across the Umatilla Army Depot and has shut down I-82.

Crews say I-82 is closed from south of Umatilla down to I-84 in Oregon. Firefighters says smoke from a large wildfire near the Umatilla Army Depot caused several crashes in the area.

There is no estimated time to when the road may be back open.

Hermiston Fire & Emergency Services warned drivers earlier of the  15-20 mile per hour winds spreading the smoke and fire toward the roads.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is helping with the closure.

We've heard reports of mutual aid also being called in to help fight the flames.
