Adams County Sheriff’s Virtual Reality Fair Booth Puts YOU in Officer’s Shoes
Imagine...a call comes in for a prowler, or an altercation...and YOU are the responding Officer.
New Virtual Reality Display from Adams County Sheriff is an Eye-Opener
The ACSO announced this week their new VR Officer-Call simulator will be on display, for the public to try out, at several fairs in the County.
Dubbed the Taser Tent, it will be on display at the Wheatland Community Fair in Ritzville September 4th, Friday, from 4-7 PM, and then at the Adams County Fair in Othello Friday and Saturday September 18-19 from 1 to 7 PM.
Space Is Limited You Need to Reserve Your Space
The ACSO says those 18-and older can give it a try:
"PUT ON THE VR HEADSET.
STEP INTO THE SCENARIO
SEE IT FROM A DEPUTY’S PERSPECTIVE
.MAKE THE DECISIONS."
The VR demonstration allows people to see, from the view of an Officer, what it's like stepping into many of the typical calls they receive on a daily basis. They get to make the call, and find out if they were right, or if their decision was 'wrong.'
The Purpose of the DIsplay? Greater Awareness and Understanding.
The purpose of the VR Display is to allow the public to get a better understanding of law enforcement, and hopefully it will provide new insight into how challenging it can be to handle these kind of scenarios.
It's the same type of VR training utilized by a growing number of LE agencies, which has already shown to be a very positive addition to police and sheriff's departments.
