Hazmat Situation Leaves Three People Hospitalized

HERMISTON, Ore-- Three people have been taken to the hospital after a hazmat release in Hermiston. Umatilla County Fire District #1 says responders were called out to Shearer's Foods for a report of several employees coming down with respiratory issues. Investigation determined a laboratory on site caused some type of leak or combination of chemicals or odors. The chemicals were isolated and a clean up company was brought in to dispose of the chemicals.

Three people were then transported to Good Shepard Healthcare System. It's still not clear what exactly caused the chemical release.
