Fire damages Kennewick restaurant
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A Kennewick restaurant was evacuated Tuesday afternoon when an electrical fire broke out just after 1:00pm.
Employees at Boiada Brazilian Grill reported finding smoke and flames inside an electrical room, and used a fire extinguisher to put it out.
Crews with the Kennewick Fire Department, Richland Fire Department, and Benton County Fire District #1 responded to the commercial building in the 8400 block of W. Gage Blvd. and found the fire mostly extinguished, but checked to make sure the flames hadn't spread into the walls.
They also used fans to help ventilate the restaurant.
Just one customer was inside when the fire started, and evacuated with at least 5 employees. No one was hurt.
Deputy Fire Marshal Captain Brian Ellis says the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but is under investigation.
Power and other utilities were shut off to the building, so the restaurant will likely not be able to reopen until Wednesday at the earliest.
