Federal Unemployment Assistance Ends
OLYMPIA, Wash.--Roughly 200-thousand Washingtonians are losing hundreds of dollars in additional federal unemployment funding per week this week. As the federal government's three-hundred dollar weekly unemployment payments expired over the holiday weekend, the state does not plan on doing anything to supplement the loss.
Last December, Governor Jay Inslee added 550 dollars extra in unemployment benefits when the federal assistance expired, but there is no word from his office that they will be making any similar move. Meanwhile, the state eviction moratorium is set to expire at the end of this month.
