With the Richland Regatta Boat Races in town several areas around the waterfront will be closed starting Friday.

The Riverfront trail for runners and bikers will be detoured around the entrance of Howard Amon park. The detour will take runners to the top of the dike between Newton Street and North of the park. For cyclists will detour to George Washington Way between Lee Blvd and North of the park. The path will be closed through Sunday, June 5th.

The North Howard Amon boat launch is closed for the races. All other Richland boat launches remain open, but the Columbia River is closed between North Howard Amon and Columbia Point Marina Park from 7:00am to 6:00pm from Friday, June 3rd through Sunday June 5th.

The first annual Richland Regatta gets underway today at Howard Amon Park. More than 60 boats will be on hand for the weekend event.

John Culver heads up the Northwest Power Boat Association and says they are getting help from water Follies for this three days of boat racing.

The Richland Regatta is a free event and there is free parking. Attendees will enjoy the option to upgrade to a pit pass for either $10 a day or $20 for the entire weekend.
