A 13-year-old Portland girl was found safe after wandering away from her campsite over the weekend near Tollgate in Umatilla County.

Deputies say they were notified Saturday night that Kate Mollinedo was thought to be playing with some friends but later on the family realized she was no longer there. After searching for three hours on their own, they called deputies.

Umatilla County Sheriff deputies say the teen was found safe, expect for a few scratches, around 10:30 a.m. about 1/8 of a mile from the campground. She told deputies she fell from a tree and became disoriented. She started wandering along the trail where they had picked huckleberries earlier, and then fell asleep near a tree after dark. When she woke up in the morning, she started yelling and her mother's boyfriend, and other searchers heard her.

Deputies say they deployed several assets during the search including a helicopter with night vision, Unmanned Arial Vehicles (drones), ATV units, canine units, and ground search teams.
