Second boy dies following ATV crash in Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE, Wash.-- The Yakima County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that an 11-year old boy has died from the injuries he received in a crash that killed his older brother.

Luis Felipe Luna-Ruiz was a passenger on the ATV his 14-year old brother was driving on Tuesday, July 14th, when they drove up an orchard trail and onto Wendell Phillips Road near Sunnyside without stopping to check for traffic, and collided with an oncoming pick-up truck.

The older boy, Oliver, died at the scene. Luis was ultimately transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries, and died from his injuries Thursday.

Investigators say the 18-year old pick-up driver did not appear to have been driving distracted or under the influence of any intoxicants, and is not expected to face charges related to the crash.
