Man arrested in connection with officer-involved shooting

OTHELLO, Wash.-- Police have arrested a man who fled a traffic stop after exchanging gunfire with an Othello Police officer Wednesday night.

The shooting incident happened when an officer conducted a traffic stop at 10:30pm Wednesday in the 800 block of Larch in Othello.

The officer communicated to emergency dispatchers that he believed the driver was an individual with warrants for his arrest.

Moments later, the officer radioed to dispatchers that shots had been fired, and the subject had a firearm.

The suspect, identified as Aaron Urbina, 32, Othello, fled the scene. He was arrested before noon Thursday and booked into the Franklin County Jail.

The officer involved in the incident is on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
