Shooting leaves one dead, another injured near Royal City
One person is dead, another hurt in a shooting that happened sometime Friday morning.
Kyle Foreman with the Grant County Sheriff's Office says they were called to a car on the side of the road on Highway 26 east of Royal City, where they found the two people inside.
"We don't know their genders or ages or where they are from, certainly we want to give the coroners office an opportunity to contact the family of the deceased before we release any information on their identities," says Foreman.
He also didn't have the extend of injuries or release how many time either person may have been shot. Life Flight was called to transport the person who was injured to a Richland hospital.
Detectives believe there may be a suspect at large, but have no description of that person. Royal School District is also in a partial lock-down as a precaution. Investigators now hope another motorist may have witnessed some or part of the incident.
State Route 26 was closed in both directions for a few hours as investigators continued to investigate but it has since been reopened.
