WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Washington Sen. Maria Cantwell's office announced Wednesday evening that a member of the Senator's Washington, D.C. office has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the notice, the employee has been in isolation since starting to experience symptoms of the illness. On the advice of the Attending Physician, the senator has closed her Washington, D.C. office for at least the remainder of this week for deep cleaning, and staff will work remotely. 

Employees in Sen. Cantwell’s offices in Seattle and Washington, D.C. will continue to serve constituents remotely.

The individual who tested positive for COVID-19 has had no known contact with the senator or other members of Congress.

Cantwell is requesting that testing be done on any other staffers who have been in contact with the individual and show symptoms.
