Richland firefighters raise $50,000 as part of stairclimb fundraiser for cancer research

Richland firefighters raised $50,000 as part of the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb fundraiser and all the money will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Firefighters add that they came in 4th for team fundraising and two of their members, Andy Sabin came in 34th and Adam Hardgrove came in 46th overall of 1,800 climbers from around the world.  Two others took high ranks in their age groups, Phebe Johansen took 1st place in her age group, and Mike Emerick took 4th place. Overall the team took 11th overall out of more than 200 teams.

It is the 24th year the department has taken part in the climb and 20 people, including the chief took part over the weekend. The  Scott Firefighter Stairclimb is a race up the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle. The firefighters run up 69 flights of stairs in full fire gear and SCBA.
