The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced plans this weekend to build eight new temples, including one in Moses Lake.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the plans from Seattle over the weekend.

Once the new temples are completed, there will be 162 operating temples across the globe. Another 47 have been announced or are under construction.

The new temples will be in the following locations:

Pago Pago, American Samoa
Okinawa City, Okinawa
Neiafu, Tonga
Tooele Valley, Utah
Moses Lake, Washington
San Pedro Sula, Honduras
Antofagasta, Chile
Budapest, Hungary

Nelson also announced plans to renovate the temple in Salt Lake City, Utah.

According to a press release, the Moses Lake Temple will be the fourth in the state of Washington, which is home to about 290,000 Mormons.

Other temples are located in Richland, Bellevue, and Spokane, although the Spokane facility is slated for closure later this month.
