Authorities have stopped short of saying it's arson, but believe the deadly Chelan Hills Fire was human-caused.

    Big Reward Offered for Information Leading to Locate Those Responsible

The Chelan Hills Fire broke out July 4th, and rapidly spread across the region, it burned well over 100 buildings and killed someone.

Douglas County Sheriff Tyler Callie announced announced Thursday a criminal investigation is under way.  Officials did not unequivically say they were, but are "pretty sure" fireworks were involved in the triggering of the fire.

July 5th, Deputies were following up a missing person's report, issued by family members who said they'd been unable to reach someone they knew who was in the fire zone.  A burned out vehicle that appeared to have slid off the road was located and human remains inside.  The ID of the person has not been released due to privacy.

That car was found near McNeil Canyon Road.  How the Douglas County Commissioners say the reward is being offered for information and tips leading directly to the apprehension of any suspects.

They acknowledged the closure of the McNeil Canyon Road creating travel hardship for a lot of citizens and business interruptions.
