A Washington woman escaped injury on Sunday night after a bullet was fired through her apartment on Sunday night.

According to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, at about 9:30 pm, the Silverdale woman reported hearaing a loud noise that resembled a firecracker going off.

The resident told Police that the bullet traveled with such force, several household appliances were knocked over, before coming to a stop in the apartment.

The Woman's Neighbor Came to Her Door Moments Later to Apologize

Deputies interviewed the next-door neighbor, identified as a 24-year-old man. He stated he was handling a semi-automatic handgun when the weapon discharged. The man explained that he was attempting to unload the firearm but deviated from his usual routine, resulting in the accidental discharge.

The weapon was taken from the neighbor as evidence, and the case was forwarded to the Attorney's Office for review and potential charges.

This unbelievable incident highlights the importance of gun safety, and handling. This woman was lucky. That bullet could've killed her.
