Deputies search for two escaped convicts from the Yakima county jail
Jail authorities say two men being held on charges out of Idaho have escaped from the county jail in Yakima.
The Yakima County Department of Corrections says officers doing a head count Tuesday morning discovered two inmates missing and later found a door from a recreational yard was left unlocked, which they believe the two men went through to get outside.
The Director of the jail says they are conducting an internal investigation to determine how the two men slipped out unnoticed. An outside investigation is also being conducted by the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say they are now looking for the two men in the photos above. The first is Steven Roche, 31, who is 6' 1" and 315 pounds. He is described as having blue eyes, a receding hairline with red hair and beard and mustache. He was in custody for multiple counts of burglary, grand theft and forgery. His name is tattooed on his left shoulder.
The other man, Chad Tipton, 31, is described as 5'11" and weighs 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair with a brown beard and mustache. Deputies say he was in custody for charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm as a result of a shooting incident in Coeur d'Alene on December 15th. He also has a tattoo of two clown masks on the right side of his neck under his right ear.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police.
