Pasco police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead.
Officers say around 2:30 a.m. they responded to a suspicious circumstance call at the home of 5619 Austin Dr. Officers say the man on the phone said someone was banging on his door. Then a 911 dispatcher said the man reported the intruder was in his home and a gunshot was heard.
When police arrived they found a 34-year-old man dead from what appears to be a gunshot. The homeowner did say he fired a gun at the man when he got into his home.
Franklin County Coroner Blasdel says identified the man who was killed as Travis Yeates from Kennewick. An autopsy will be performed Saturday afternoon.
The homeowner, Corey Chapman, 43 of Pasco, is cooperating with detectives and no one is in custody. Officers say the investigation is focusing on whether the shooting is justified or not.
