5 more workers seek medical attention after reported odors
Five more workers at Hanford have been tested as a precaution for odors reported last week. Washington River Protection officials say no new reported vapors were declared Wednesday.
All total 47 workers have been evaluated as a precautionary measure due to reported odors or symptoms at the on-site medical facility since April 28. Of those, 34 reported symptoms, while 13 had no symptoms. All have been released to return to work.
Officials say sampling results from yesterday’s two reported events showed chemical concentrations well below harmful exposure standards.
Workers reported odors in two separate events outside the tank farms A, AP, and AX. The AP farm is where officials were transferring waste from the failed double-shelled tank AY-102.
Access to the areas has been back open after samples are gathered and analyzed. Workers were not wearing respiratory protection, nor were they required to, since they were outside of a tank farm.
