The Hanford Atomic Metals Trades Council (HAMTC) issued a stop work order at the Plutonium Finishing Plant Thursday.

According to information from HAMTC, they ordered the stoppage for any demolition work happening inside the PFP. Work outside of the facility can continue.

CH2M Hill is overseeing the work of dismantling the plant, and union representative say they're meeting with the Hanford contractor to determine how best to proceed after an incident earlier this week where six Hanford workers smelled odors while repacking a waste drum at the PFP.

Each of the employees was evaluated and authorized to return to work.
