The city of West Richland sent a letter to the State Liquor and Cannabis Board, asking them to revoke a license to sell recreational pot.

In a letter, officials say the only reason it was approved was because the business had originally been granted a license for Prosser, but it was transferred to West Richland in early March. They went on to say the location is in a unincorporated area of Benton County but is located within the corporate boundaries of the City of West Richland. However, West Richland officials say they did not know about the license application until the company asked for a permit to add a driveway to Arena Road.

They now want the business license revoked because it is located within the 1,000 feet of a day care center which is against state law. The City of West Richland also has a prohibition on the recreational production, processing and retail sales of marijuana.

The proposed shop “The Garden, LLC," would be a single family home that will be turned into a retail marijuana store.
